CDEV 2223 - Art/Music Activities 3/0 (3)<br />

with emphasis on planning and implementing appropriate<br />

aesthetic experiences. Methods of encouraging participation,<br />

CDEV 2233 - Language Acquisition<br />

& Development 3/0 (3)<br />

Prerequisite: CDEV 1513 or concurrent enrollment. Language<br />

acquisition, development, and communication skills of the young<br />

child will be the focus of this course. Methods of theoretical and<br />

practical application of language concepts along with emphasis<br />

on selection and analysis of children’s literature are included.<br />

CDEV 2243 - Science/Math Activities 3/0 (3)<br />

Prerequisites: CDEV 1513 or concurrent enrollment. This<br />

course examines science/mathematical concept development in<br />

young children through the utilization of hands-on activities<br />

in the child care environment. Focus is on the development of<br />

problem-solving skills and methods for encouraging exploration<br />

and curiosity.<br />

CDEV 2253 - Motor Development/Physical<br />

Activities 3/0 (3)<br />

Prerequisites: CDEV 1513 or concurrent enrollment. This course<br />

examines the relationship between physical activity and whole<br />

child development. Theories of play, community resources, and<br />

observation techniques for the planning and implementation of<br />

basic movement principles for the individual and the group both<br />

indoors and outdoors are included.<br />

CDEV 2263 - Heads Up! Reading 3/0 (3)<br />

This course includes research-based principles and practices for<br />

providing children birth through age 5 with a strong foundation<br />

in early reading and writing while using a developmentally<br />

appropriate approach.<br />

CDEV 2363 - Administration in Child Care<br />

Settings 3/0 (3)<br />

Prerequisite: CDEV 1513 or concurrent enrollment. This course<br />

is designed for early childhood professionals with a focus on<br />

administration in early childhood settings. Program planning,<br />

policy formation, personnel selection, training and supervision,<br />

facilities management and budgeting, state licensing standards,<br />

and interpersonal skills are examined. Included are analysis of<br />

current trends, community resources, and program evaluation.<br />

CDEV 2403 - Clinical Experience 1/6 (3)<br />

Prerequisite: CDEV 1513 and CDEV 2033 with minimum of<br />

15 hours in child development courses. This course requires 135<br />

hours of participation in an approved early childhood care setting.<br />

Students should apply for clinical experience with the program<br />

coordinator the semester prior to the clinical experience. See<br />

Child Development program requirements on Page 69.<br />

Chiropractor Assistant<br />

CHRO <strong>10</strong>12 - Chiropractic History & Philosophy 2/0 (2)<br />

This course will introduce students to the history and philosophy<br />

of chiropractic. Students will learn how chiropractic began, and<br />

how it has evolved over the past century. They also will cover the<br />

chiropractic paradigm of wellness care. This unique philosophy<br />

will help them to understand how chiropractic works, enabling<br />

them to explain the benefits of chiropractic to patients and other<br />

health care professionals. (Pending approval.)<br />

CHRO 1112 - Basic Chiropractic Procedures 2/0 (2)<br />

This course will introduce students to the procedures used daily<br />

in a chiropractic office. The student will learn about different<br />

chiropractic techniques and methods utilized in patient care. The<br />

student will become proficient in assisting the chiropractic doctor<br />

in examination, administering care, and record keeping. Emphasis<br />

will be placed on taking a patient’s history, securing vital signs,<br />

and assessing subjective outcome. (Pending approval.)<br />

CHRO 1302 - Introduction to Physiotherapy 2/0 (2)<br />

Prerequisite: BIOL 1554. This course is an introduction to the<br />

physiotherapy and its application in the chiropractic practice.<br />

The student will learn the proper use of ice, heat, ultrasound,<br />

and other modalities. The student will learn both the contraindications<br />

and the benefits provided by the application of these<br />

modalities. (Pending approval.)<br />

CHRO 1412 - Chiropractic Internship 0/<strong>10</strong> (2)<br />

Prerequisites: CHRO <strong>10</strong>12, CHRO 1112 and CHRO 1302. The<br />

student will apply his/her knowledge in the chiropractic field<br />

working a minimum of 160 hours at a cooperating chiropractic<br />

facility under the supervision of a training sponsor (chiropractor)<br />

and the program coordinator. (Pending approval.)<br />

Computer-Aided Drafting<br />

DRFT 1154 - Technical Drafting & Print Reading<br />

(formerly Technical Drafting) 2/4 (4)<br />

This course includes terms and techniques common to engineering<br />

and construction drawings, such as lettering, sketching,<br />

basic geometrical constructions, orthographic projection theory,<br />

pictorial representation, and dimensioning. Each student will be<br />

able to prepare, read and interpret working drawings.<br />

DRFT 2114 - Computer-Aided Drafting I 2.5/3 (4)<br />

Prerequisite: General knowledge of the Windows operating system.<br />

This course introduces the general principles and features<br />

of the computer-aided drafting system, then uses them for a<br />

variety of design and manufacturing application areas. Students<br />

will understand two-dimensional design and basic dimensioning<br />

skills, as well as the Cartesian Coordinate system. ANSI standard<br />

drafting practices are used.<br />

DRFT 2124 - Computer-Aided Drafting II 2.5/3 (4)<br />

Prerequisite: DRFT 2114. This course emphasizes development<br />

of general computer-aided drafting skills. Topics covered include:<br />

dimensioning styles, blocks and attributes, DesignCenter, Tool<br />

Palettes, annotative objects, external references, Internet tools,<br />

advanced plotting, raster images and vector files. Students will<br />

learn how to use AutoCAD to create section, isometric, auxiliary,<br />

multiview drawings for different design applications.<br />

DRFT 2134 - Computer-Aided Drafting III 2.5/3 (4)<br />

Prerequisite: DRFT 2124. This course explores the threedimensional<br />

construction and viewing capabilities of AutoCAD.<br />

Topics covered include: user coordinate systems, visual styles,<br />

composite solid modeling and editing, rendering, animation, and<br />
