TOWR 1111 – Tower Erection Basics<br />

This course will teach and expose the student to the basic<br />
techniques and standards necessary to erect the most common<br />
communication towers, utilizing industry standards applicable<br />
to basic tower erection.<br />
TOWR 1121 – Emergency Medical Response<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This course is designed to meet the requirements of OSHA<br />
19<strong>10</strong>.<strong>10</strong>30, the bloodborne pathogens standard and the knowledge<br />
and psychomotor skills to recognize emergencies at the<br />
worksite and give first aid.<br />
TOWR 1131 – OSHA <strong>10</strong>-Hour<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This course as prescribed by OSHA, provides safety training to<br />
workers in the construction industry in basic hazards they are<br />
normally faced with. This course meets the requirement for the<br />
OSHA 1926.21 standard for the construction industry.<br />
TOWR 1141 – RF Safety & Hazard Signage<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This course will familiarize the issues associated with signage<br />
and signal hazards and safety. The student will become familiar<br />
with the recommended signage to be utilized on most communications<br />
related job sites and equipment to assure personnel<br />
and equipment safety. In addition, students will be shown the<br />
hazards associated working with radio frequency and microwave<br />
signals and how to be protected.<br />
TOWR 1152 – Haz-Woper<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This course is design for the tower erector who may, from time<br />
to time, be working at a job site where the ground is contaminated,<br />
or where hazardous materials or special wastes may have<br />
previously been handled or stored, and to which he or she may<br />
now become exposed.<br />
TOWR 1162 – Tower Rescue & Competent Climber<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This course will provide students with skills needed to properly<br />
use restraint systems and address tower rescues.<br />
TOWR 1171 – Rigging & Ropes<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This course provides rigging standards, uses and applications<br />
for slings, shackles, and hooks to workers in the construction<br />
industry in order to impart the most efficient and safe methods<br />
to use.<br />
TOWR 1181 – Authorized Climber<br />
(Based on demand) (Variable, up to 1.5)<br />
This is an introductory course designed to allow the student to<br />
develop the basic skills necessary for safe tower work. This course<br />
will address a variety of subject areas including regulatory safety<br />
standards, equipment commonly used, engineering controls, or<br />
practice controls, and return demonstrations. Upon completion,<br />
the authorized climber will be able to demonstrate knowledge,<br />
understanding, and application of the equipment used, as well<br />
as safe practices while working on the tower.<br />
Theater<br />
THEA 1813 - Introduction to Drama 3/0 (3)<br />
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. The student will be introduced<br />
to basic techniques of acting. He or she will participate<br />
in improvisations and present practice scenes in class to<br />
develop abilities in character analysis and creation, stage movement,<br />
and voice and body control. The student also will be<br />
introduced to technical elements of play production. AAS:<br />
Humanities elective.<br />
THEA 1823 - Intermediate Drama<br />
(Based on demand) 3/0 (3)<br />
Prerequisite: THEA 1813. The student will continue to develop<br />
the acting skills presented in THEA 1813. He or she will present<br />
practice scenes in class to develop a greater understanding<br />
of characterization, stage composition and movement, and to<br />
apply techniques of various modern and historical styles of acting<br />
and production.<br />
Theatre Practicum<br />
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. The student will acquire practical<br />
experience by working in theatrical productions. He/she will<br />
choose the area in which he/she wishes to gain experience during<br />
each semester: (a) acting, directing, and stage management, (b)<br />
set design and construction, lighting and sound, (c) costuming<br />
and makeup, (d) publicity and program construction. The student<br />
may repeat this course for a maximum of four semester hours<br />
credit choosing a different area during each enrollment. Each<br />
enrollment awards one credit hour.<br />
