Associate in Arts in Teaching Degree<br />

Secondary Mathematics – EDUC.AAT.B26<br />

The Associate in Arts in Secondary Teaching—Mathematics Emphasis fulfills the first two years of a four-year<br />

degree in secondary education with a mathematics concentration. The program consists of general education,<br />

professional education, and mathematics courses. These courses encompass the 11 Illinois Professional Teaching<br />

Standards, the Technology Standards, and the Core Language Arts Standards for all teachers. Students are encouraged<br />

to complete their Associate in Arts in Teaching: Secondary Mathematics prior to transfer. Students are urged<br />

to meet with an academic adviser each semester to review course selections and transfer plans.<br />

Illinois that they have passed the Illinois Basic<br />

Skills test to earn the AAT degree.<br />

major must indicate it on the enrollment form.<br />

the enrollment process, and the education major<br />

coordinator will oversee each student’s educational<br />

advancement and portfolio.<br />
