FREN 1101 Beginning French I. (3)<br />

A course for beginners with intensive practice in pronunciation, essentials<br />

of grammar, and reading of simple prose.<br />

FREN 1102 Beginning French II. (3)<br />

A continuation of French 1101.<br />

Prerequisite: FREN 1101 or permission of instructor<br />

FREN 2103 Intermediate French I. (3)<br />

A continuation of French 1102 with additional readings.<br />

Prerequisite: FREN 1102 or permission of instructor<br />

FREN 2105 Intermediate French II. (3)<br />

A systematic and thorough review of French grammar with emphasis on<br />

the production of speech. Not open to students fluent in French.<br />

Prerequisite: FREN 2103 or permission of instructor<br />

FREN 2199 Francophone Travel Seminar. (1-9)<br />

A travel-study seminar composed of preliminary academic preparation<br />

followed by contact with the target culture through travel in the selected<br />

French-speaking country.<br />

Prerequisite: FREN 1101, FREN 1102, and FREN 2103 or<br />

permission of instructor and chair of Latin<br />

American Studies<br />

FREN 3000 French Conversation. (3)<br />

The goal of this course is to help students improve their<br />

(1) vocabulary<br />

(2) aural comprehension: listening skills<br />

(3) oral production: speaking skills<br />
