MUSI 2201 Theory 3. (2) Fall<br />

Continuation of MUSI 1102. This course is designed to provide the<br />

student with more advanced knowledge of music theory, including:<br />

basic reductive and hierarchic graphing techniques, chromatic harmony,<br />

modulations, form (binary, ternary, and variations), advanced voice<br />

leading, and advanced part writing. Some lab time will be devoted to<br />

internet music resources and notation using FINALE. Other topics will<br />

include basic MAC computer skills, especially as they pertain to music<br />

theory and CAI in music theory. Must be taken with MUSI 2213.<br />

Prerequisite: MUSI 1102 and MUSI 1114<br />

MUSI 2202 Theory 4. (2) Spring<br />

Continuation of MUSI 2201. This course is designed to provide the<br />

student with more advanced knowledge of music theory, including:<br />

reductive and hierarchic graphing techniques, advanced chromatic<br />

harmony, modulations, sonata and rondo form, advanced voice leading,<br />

advanced part writing, and introductory 20 th century compositional<br />

techniques. Some lab time will be devoted to internet music resources<br />

and notation using FINALE. Other topics will include basic MAC<br />

computer skills, especially as they pertain to music theory and CAI in<br />

music theory. Must be taken with MUSI 2214.<br />

Prerequisite: MUSI 2201 and 2213<br />

MUSI 2203 Piano Class 3. (1) Spring<br />

Continuation of MUSI 1104 with emphasis on transposition and chord<br />

accompaniment. Upon completion of this course, the student should be<br />

prepared for the Piano Proficiency Exam. May be repeated for credit.<br />

Prerequisite: MUSI 1104<br />

MUSI 2210 Composition 2. (1) Fall<br />

Score preparation, performance, and recording of works created by the<br />

student. This is a seminar class, therefore, peer evaluation and<br />

commentary is part of the classroom experience. At least one work<br />

must be offered in the recital given by the composition class at the end<br />

of the term.<br />

MUSI 2211 Composition 3. (1) Spring<br />

Score preparation, performance, and recording of works created by the<br />

student. This is a seminar class, therefore, peer evaluation and<br />

commentary is part of the classroom experience. At least one work<br />
