MUSI 2213 Ear Training 3. (2) Fall<br />

Continuation of MUSI 1114. This course is designed to provide the<br />

student with a more advanced knowledge, sight singing, and listening<br />

skills. Some lab time will be devoted to internet music resources and<br />

notation using FINALE. Other topics will include basic MAC computer<br />

skills, especially as they pertain to music theory and CAI in music theory<br />

and ear training. Must be taken with MUSI 2201.<br />

Prerequisite: MUSI 1102 and MUSI 1114<br />

MUSI 2214 Ear Training 4. (2) Spring<br />

Continuation of MUSI 2213. Must be taken with MUSI 2202.<br />

Prerequisite: MUSI 2201 and MUSI 2213<br />

MUSI 2239 Diction for Singers. (1) Fall and Spring<br />

Trains students in the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet to<br />

pronounce foreign language art songs. Practice in transcribing English,<br />

Italian, French, and German art songs and applying the rules of correct<br />

pronunciation. May be repeated for credit.<br />

MUSI 2310 Orchestration. (2) Fall<br />

Techniques of scoring for string, brass, woodwind, percussion instruments<br />

and MIDI instruments.<br />

Prerequisite: MUSI 1102 and MUSI 1114<br />

MUSI 2390 Audio Engineering. (3) Spring<br />

Classroom instruction in digital and analog audio engineering. Recording<br />

console operation, microphone placement and usage, mixing, tape based<br />

and hard disc recording, mastering, CD burning and troubleshooting.<br />

MUSI 3210 Composition 4. (1) Fall<br />

Score preparation, performance, and recording of works created by the<br />

student. This is a seminar class, therefore, peer evaluation and commentary<br />

is part of the classroom experience. At least one work must be offered in<br />

the recital given by the composition class at the end of the term.<br />

MUSI 3211 Composition 5. (1) Spring<br />

Score preparation, performance, and recording of works created by the<br />

student. This is a seminar class, therefore, peer evaluation and commentary<br />

is part of the classroom experience. At least one work must be offered in<br />
