NURS 3400 Health Restoration I:A Psychiatric Mental Health<br />

Focus. (4) Fall<br />

(3 hrs. class, 3 hrs. lab/clinical per week)<br />

Course provides the student with a foundation in psychiatric and mental<br />

health nursing with a focus on therapeutic communication, influences<br />

affecting mental health and illness, and nursing care for mental health<br />

maintenance and restoration.<br />

Prerequisites: Admission to BSN Program<br />

Corequisites: NURS 3310, NURS 3311, NURS 3312<br />

NURS 4430 Health Restoration III: Adult Health Focus. (7) Fall<br />

(3 hrs. class, 12 hrs. lab/clinical per week)<br />

A study of advanced nursing care relevant to acutely ill patients with<br />

complex health problems. Learning experiences emphasize<br />

collaboration and critical analysis necessary in providing and<br />

coordinating care.<br />

Prerequisites: NURS 3331, NURS 3350, NURS 3340, NURS 3400<br />

Corequisites: NURS 4431 NURS 4440<br />

NURS 4431 Research in Nursing. (3) Fall<br />

(3 hrs. class per week)<br />

A course designed to assist students in developing a sense of inquiry,<br />

including research designs, sampling strategies, data analysis methods,<br />

and the use of research in clinical nursing practice.<br />

Prerequisites: NURS 3312 or NURS 3313<br />

NURS 4432 Senior Capstone in Nursing. (3) Spring<br />

(3 hrs. class per week)<br />

A seminar to assist students in synthesizing learning related to the roles<br />

and practices of professional nurses, exploring the health care system<br />

and the legal-ethical, sociopolitical, cultural, and professional issues<br />

influencing contemporary nursing.<br />

Prerequisites: All Junior-Level Nursing & Senior Fall Courses<br />

Corequisites: NURS 4450, NURS 4460<br />

NURS 4433 Health Restoration IV: Advanced Concepts.<br />

(5) Spring<br />

(3 hrs. class, 6 hrs. lab/clinical per week)<br />

This course is the third of a three-course sequence. This course provides<br />

opportunities for analysis and synthesis of content and concepts<br />

contained in previous nursing courses. The primary focus of this course<br />

is clients with complex health care needs.<br />

Prerequisites: All Junior level courses; NURS 4430<br />

Corequisites: NURS 4432, NURS 4450<br />
