This handbook is divided into 2 Volumes and each different<br />
section of the document is colour-coded to help you find the<br />
information that you need. Volume 1 contains:<br />
This handbook is not designed to be read from cover to cover -<br />
you should be able to access the handbook according to your<br />
interest area and enter it at almost any page. Each topic area is<br />
cross-referenced to other sections which will direct you to related<br />

Volume 2 contains ‘Fact sheets’ for ‘project management’ &<br />

‘engagement’. These are more detailed explanations of the engagement’ which provides a more general overview of the<br />
tools in Section 3 and are colour-coded with orange and blue. detailed ‘fact sheets’ contained in Volume 2; and<br />

1.6 What is on the CD-ROM?<br />
This handbook is accompanied by a CD-ROM, on which<br />
you will find the following documents:<br />
GUIDEMAPS handbook<br />
The CD-ROM contains an electronic PDF-version of<br />
Volume 1 and 2 of the handbook. The handbook on the<br />
CD-ROM is linked both within the Volumes and to<br />
additional background information. For example, this will<br />
allow you to easily access detailed information on a<br />
certain ‘Tool’ or a ‘Practice example’ illustrating how this<br />
tool has been used in practice.<br />
Practice examples<br />
‘Practice example summaries’ of projects that have<br />
been involved in GUIDEMAPS are outlined on the CD-<br />
ROM. By clicking on the name of a project in Section 3<br />
- ‘In Practice’ on the ‘Tools’ page, you can access more<br />
information on the example, including maps and<br />
photographs and a full description of the project and the<br />
way key <strong>decision</strong>s were managed. This description also<br />
includes more information on the tools and techniques<br />
used, any barriers which were encountered and a<br />
timeline of activities for the project.<br />
GUIDEMAPS library<br />
The GUIDEMAPS library is a database of resources<br />
providing relevant information on project management<br />
or certain engagement tools in more detail. It also<br />
provides relevant resources on project management<br />
and stakeholder engagement in other European<br />
languages.<br />
