forming dunes. The sand fencing will also aid in dune formation by capturing wind blown sand.<br />

AUTHORIZED USES<br />

o This project meets the criteria set forth in Authorized Use #1, projects and activities for the<br />

conservation, protection, or restoration <strong>of</strong> coastal areas, including wetland.<br />

o Justification: The <strong>Coastal</strong> Dune Restoration initiative meets Authorized Use #1 because it will aid<br />

in the restoration <strong>of</strong> coastal dune areas to their natural state. It will also provide protection to the<br />

natural habitats <strong>of</strong> threatened and endangered species, such as the <strong>Alabama</strong> Beach Mouse, sea<br />

turtles, and migratory birds.<br />

o Cost Sharing: This project will be completely administered using <strong>CIAP</strong> funds. No cost sharing or<br />

matching will be used.<br />

o Partnering: Partnering is not applicable to this project.<br />
