English Language Learners
The English Language Learners Progress Measure includes current and monitored LEP students. It
measures the percent either passing TAKS or showing the required improvement on the Texas
English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS).
• SAISD performed at 77% on the ELL Progress Measure, an increase from 75%
last year, and 72% the year before.
Section III: Bilingual Education/English as a Second Language Report for 2010-11 LEP Students:
• LEP students made modest gains in Math and Social Studies compared to last year.
• Elementary Bilingual (BE) students outperformed secondary ESL students in all subjects.
• Students who participate in Bilingual programs continue to outperform those who deny services.
