When mindful, we really participate in our moment-<strong>to</strong>-moment<br />

experiences—feeling them, enjoying them, or learning from them.<br />

Practicing mindfulness moves us in the direction of greater selfawareness,<br />

which allows us the power of choice and <strong>to</strong> get the most<br />

out of our life day <strong>to</strong> day.<br />

To summarize, there are two important ways <strong>to</strong> build consciousness<br />

and move us along on the path of self-awareness. One is <strong>to</strong> practise<br />

being more mindful in the moment and the second is <strong>to</strong> be more<br />

conscious of what is really going on below the surface of our<br />

experiences. Self-awareness really is the key <strong>to</strong> greater freedom and<br />

happiness.<br />
