On a cold Saturday morning in November the Under 14s and
Under 16s travelled to Bolton School, nervous and
apprehensive of the challenge ahead. To our delight the U16s
reached the semi-final stage and they were only one victory
away from reaching the next stage of the competition. They
faced Oldham Hulme with a very tall goal shooter and
narrowly lost by one goal. This disappointment did not
dampen their spirits, with all the squads having some great
wins in December against Bury Grammar – U12s winning 15-
8, U14s winning 19-4, U15s winning 34-22, U16s winning
22-9 and the Seniors winning 44-18.
After Christmas all the players took part in the North West
Netball ‘pink week’ to raise money for breast cancer; the
squads wore pink and made a donation to charity in their
match against Q.E.G.S. Blackburn. It must have inspired them
as they played exceptionally well and produced an excellent
set of results. The season finished with the Under 15s winning
the Stonyhurst tournament and the Under 12s being runners
up in the Stockport Schools' tournament.
All the netball squads have shown a huge amount of
commitment and on behalf of all the staff I would like to thank
all the players for making this job so enjoyable. Finally, a
special thanks to Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Maskery and Mrs Bartlett
for their hard work and dedication to all the squads.

SENIOR NETBALL
round of the National Schools' competition, narrowly losing to
Oldham Sixth form College, as a result this placed us third in
the group just missing out on the semi-final spot.
We had some great wins throughout the season; Newcastle
Under Lyme 26-14, Q.E.G.S. 23-22, Stonyhurst 19-18,
Withington 32-30, Bury 44-18 and Bolton 27-22. Our final
game was against Cheadle Hulme; unfortunately, this result
did not reflect the effort that each player put into this game
and every other in the season.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Topping for
making the Upper Sixth girls' last season so enjoyable. It
would not have been the same without you!
1st Netball Squad
This season of netball has been extremely successful with us
winning the majority of our games. As the season progressed
I feel that the team strengthened and bonded, both on and off
the court, due to the loyalty, hard work and commitment from
every member. We came very close to qualifying into the next
I would also like to thank Caitlin, Sofia, Jen, Holli, Lizzie,
Catriona and Sophie. I couldn’t have asked for a better group
of girls to have spent the last seven seasons with. We will all
go to university with very fond memories of netball at
Stockport Grammar School.

UNDER 16 NETBALL
The season has been very successful. Despite closely losing
our first match of the season 14-16 to Altrincham, the U16
squad have won 7 out of the 9 matches played. We entered
the National Schools’ Tournament, coming 3rd after a close
