The Stopfordian 2011–2012
Day to come. Would the weather hold out? Arden had not
won Sports Day for over twenty five years. The Senior age
group had already had their afternoon and rose to the
challenge winning both the Boys and Girls sections – Toby
Jones winning the Senior Victor Ludorum.
As a result, with Arden recording a total of over 1000 points on
Sports Day, enough points were accumulated to give a last gasp
victory in the Fallows’ Shield. Arden was victorious, for the
second year on the trot, with tremendous commitment being
shown by all the boys and girls over the past three terms.
The final Friday arrived; field events took place and new
records were broken by Arden First Years Wolodymyr
Krywonos (High and Long jumps), Max Wood (Discus) and
Francesca Wilkinson (High Jump). Such was the wealth of
Arden athletic talent that the following were awarded the
Victor or Victrix Ludorum for their age groups
1st Year Boys’ Wolodymyr Krywonos & Dan Woodside
2nd Year Girls’ Lauren Hunt
2nd Year Boys’ George Smith
4th Year Girls’ Holly Hunt (jointly)
4th Year Boys’ Will Hanson
At the final House Assembly of the year, the result was
announced to all the House. In her farewell speech as she
retired, Mrs Lockwood, as a previous Head of House, said in
her years in that role she had never won the Fallows’ Shield
and she wished us all great success for the future.
