5.5 Functional test – repeater units only<br />

If you have installed the <strong>ST6001</strong>+ as an additional control unit for an<br />

existing autopilot system, complete the following checks to make<br />

sure you have installed the control unit correctly.<br />

Note: If you have connected the <strong>ST6001</strong>+ as part of a new autopilot<br />

installation, you MUST calibrate the autopilot as described in<br />

Chapter 6: Commissioning the Autopilot.<br />

Switch on<br />

1. When you have installed the <strong>ST6001</strong>+ control unit, switch on the<br />

main power breaker.<br />

2. If the control unit is active and the system operating, the control<br />

unit will beep and display the control unit type (<strong>ST6001</strong>) for<br />

2 seconds.<br />

3. After 2 seconds, the control unit will display the STANDBY screen.<br />

5 Installing the <strong>ST6001</strong>+<br />

SeaTalk and NMEA connections<br />

If you have connected the <strong>ST6001</strong>+ to other SeaTalk instruments or<br />

control units, check the links as follows:<br />

1. Select display lighting level 3 (LAMP 3) on one of the other<br />

SeaTalk instruments or control units.<br />

2. The <strong>ST6001</strong>+ should immediately switch on its display lighting:<br />

• if the lighting does not switch on, there is a fault in the SeaTalk<br />

cabling between the <strong>ST6001</strong>+ and the other units<br />

3. If you have connected an NMEA navigator to the control unit<br />

NMEA inputs, check the connections as described on page 57.<br />

Troubleshooting<br />

• If the head does not beep, check the fuse/circuit breaker.<br />

• If the display shows the SEATALK FAILalarm message, check the<br />

SeaTalk connections.
