42. Remuneration<br />

(a) Chief Executive<br />

The Chief Executive of the <strong>Council</strong> is appointed in accordance with<br />

section 42 of the Local Government Act 2002.<br />

The total cost of the role for the year to 30 June <strong>2010</strong> was $479,492 –<br />

this compares with $452,945 for the year ending 30 June 2009.<br />

(b) Cost of severance payments<br />

In accordance with Schedule 10, section 19 of the Local Government<br />

Act 2002 the <strong>Council</strong> is required to disclose the number of<br />

employees who received severance payments during the year, and<br />

the amount of each severance payment made as defined under the<br />

legislation.<br />

For the year ending 30 June <strong>2010</strong> the <strong>Council</strong> made twelve payments<br />

of $20,000, $7,000, $6,000, $5,000(3) and $4,000(3), $3,000,<br />

$2,000 and $1,000 that require disclosure (2009: $13,000, $9,000,<br />

$8,500, $6,700, $5,000 and $3,000(2).<br />

management personnel of the entity is set out below:<br />

Total key management personnel remuneration includes that of the<br />

executive team of <strong>Council</strong>. This does not include the remuneration<br />

of the Chief Executive, Mayor and <strong>Council</strong>lors, the details of their<br />
