the local population.<br />
PHAR 710 APPE – DRUG INFORMATION<br />
The Drug Information advanced elective experience enables students to demonstrate a systematic<br />
approach to drug information inquiries. Students will apply knowledge, skills, and abilities developed<br />
throughout the curriculum to respond to drug information questions by researching and evaluating<br />
relevant literature, applying research results to questions, and communicating appropriate answers to<br />
the inquirer(s) under the supervision <strong>of</strong> a preceptor.<br />
PHAR 712 APPE – MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP<br />
The Management and Leadership advanced elective experience will <strong>of</strong>fer opportunities to enhance the<br />
student’s knowledge and understanding <strong>of</strong> management, pharmacy administration, and/or leadership<br />
under the supervision <strong>of</strong> a preceptor. The setting and scope <strong>of</strong> responsibilities will vary according to the<br />
individual site and preceptor expertise. Students will apply knowledge, skills, and abilities developed<br />
throughout the curriculum to manage resources, refine leadership skills, and fulfill the mission <strong>of</strong> the<br />
organization.<br />
PHAR 720 APPE – GENERAL ELECTIVE<br />
The General Elective advanced experience provides distinctive options for students to participate in<br />
areas such as compounding, nuclear pharmacy, academia, research, consulting, industry and other<br />
environments where patient care is not the primary focus. Specialty areas will vary according to<br />
preceptor and site availability. Students will apply knowledge, skills, and abilities developed throughout<br />
the curriculum to course and site-specific objectives and will demonstrate effective verbal and written<br />
communication skills in fulfillment <strong>of</strong> their responsibilities.<br />
PHAR 799: PROFESSIONAL SEMINAR<br />
This capstone course is <strong>of</strong>fered at the end <strong>of</strong> the third (SP-3) and final academic year after the students<br />
have completed the experiential curriculum. The course <strong>of</strong>fers 30 hours <strong>of</strong> classroom instruction that<br />
consists <strong>of</strong> a review <strong>of</strong> all curricular competencies and prepares the student for licensure examination<br />
and entrance into the pr<strong>of</strong>ession.<br />
100
