STANDARDS FOR GRADUATION<br />

To qualify for graduation, a student must have achieved:<br />

162.5 Hours completed<br />

o 118.5 hours pr<strong>of</strong>essional curriculum<br />

o 40 Hours <strong>of</strong> Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (at least 1500 supervised<br />

clock hours)<br />

o 2 Hours <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Seminar completed<br />

Satisfactory Completion <strong>of</strong> Student Portfolio<br />

UMES SOP exit survey completed<br />

Other <strong>University</strong> financial requirements and obligations must also be met.<br />

STUDENT ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS<br />

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

Students must fulfill their financial responsibilities to the <strong>University</strong> prior to the start <strong>of</strong> the<br />

term.<br />

INTERN LICENSING REQUIREMENTS<br />

MARYLAND, DELAWARE, VIRGINIA<br />

Students must be in compliance with the applicable state licensing requirements for a Student<br />

Pharmacist Intern in the states where they will participate in the UMES Experiential Education<br />

program. They will enroll as interns in Delaware and Virginia during orientation week their first<br />

year in the school <strong>of</strong> pharmacy. <strong>Maryland</strong> does not currently require pharmacy students<br />

enrolled in a school <strong>of</strong> pharmacy to register as a Pharmacist Intern. The fees for these<br />

registrations will be included in the student fees.<br />

ATTENDANCE AT INSTRUCTIONAL PERIODS, ASSESSMENTS, AND EXTENDED<br />

LEARNING<br />

Attendance is required at all scheduled instructional periods and all scheduled assessments and<br />

remediation/reassessment periods.<br />

ABSENCE FROM INSTRUCTIONAL PERIODS<br />

Attendance and promptness is expected for all scheduled classes. A student is responsible for<br />

all covered material and should notify a faculty member if they are unable to attend. Classroom<br />

activities and participation are considered an important part <strong>of</strong> the teaching-learning process.<br />

The faculty is not obligated to make-up missed activities.<br />

The UMES SOP has adopted a ‘no fault’ absentee policy. ‘No fault’ means that normally all<br />

absences are equal regardless <strong>of</strong> the reason, no questions asked, no documentation required.<br />

Tardiness is considered an absence. A student cannot have more than three absences in a two<br />

week assessment period. Attendance can be taken at any time during the day, and may also be<br />

taken multiple times during a day. If an extended illness requires a student to be absent for<br />

more than three days, a doctor’s note* must be provided specifying the reason for the absence<br />

for all days out, including the initial three days. Any other absences that might cause a student<br />
