<strong>of</strong> an accredited program.<br />
Upon granting pre-accreditation status (pre-candidate or candidate) to a program, or in the<br />
event <strong>of</strong> voluntary withdrawal from pre-accreditation, or upon a decision to let preaccreditation<br />
lapse, written notification <strong>of</strong> such action shall be made to the U.S. Secretary <strong>of</strong><br />
Education, the appropriate state licensing or authorizing agency, the appropriate regional<br />
and/or other accrediting agencies, and the public within 30 days. Public notification includes<br />
presentation on the ACPE web site.<br />
UMES SCHOOL OF PHARMACY STUDENT ACCREDITATION DISCLOSURE RECEIPT<br />
The Accreditation Disclosure Statement section found in the appendix <strong>of</strong> this Handbook (p. 100)<br />
is the UMES School <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy’s full disclosure to all prospective and enrolled students<br />
regarding the current accreditation status <strong>of</strong> the UMES School <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy’s Doctor <strong>of</strong><br />
Pharmacy program. This disclosure explains the meaning and implication <strong>of</strong> the preaccreditation<br />
process in regards to a student’s pr<strong>of</strong>essional and academic risks, as well as, the<br />
full range <strong>of</strong> implications this accreditation status poses on their future educational plans and<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional goals. By signing the Accreditation Disclosure Statement Receipt, students are<br />
acknowledging having received and read the Accreditation Disclosure Statement and accepting<br />
responsibility to become thoroughly familiar with the information found therein. Receipts must<br />
be signed and returned to the Office <strong>of</strong> Student Affairs during Orientation Week. Copies <strong>of</strong> the<br />
signed receipts will be kept in his or her student file.<br />
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS<br />
Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> the following credentials: completed pre-requisite course work; a grade point average<br />
(GPA) calculation <strong>of</strong> at least a 2.75; results from the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT); a<br />
satisfactory criminal background check result; and, a health clearance from the Charles R. Drew<br />
Student Health Center, are required <strong>of</strong> all students extended an <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>of</strong> admission prior to<br />
matriculation.<br />
Upon receipt <strong>of</strong> pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> the admissions requirements, students will then be block registered<br />
for the Doctor <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy program.<br />
TECHNICAL STANDARDS<br />
Essential Personal Attributes and Capabilities for Admission, Promotion, and Graduation<br />
The primary goal <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>Eastern</strong> <strong>Shore</strong> (UMES) School <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy is to<br />
prepare students for the practice <strong>of</strong> pharmacy. Doctor <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy candidates at the UMES<br />
School <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy must be able to perform essential functions that fall into several broad<br />
categories. The Admissions Committee uses the following technical standards: Observation,<br />
