Create a database connection<br />

Open the Database Instance Editor.<br />

In the General tab, click New. The Database Connections dialog box<br />

opens.<br />

In the General tab, do the following:<br />

◊ Type a name for the database connection in the Database connection name<br />

box.<br />

◊ Select a default DSN from the list of Local system ODBC data sources.<br />

◊ Select a default database login from the Database login list.<br />

◊ If you wish, you can modify the default ODBC and connection caching<br />

settings in the Advanced tab.<br />

Click OK to save the new database connection. You are returned to the<br />

Database Instance Editor.<br />

Click OK to save the database instance in addition to the database<br />

connection. Otherwise, just click Cancel to exit the Database Instance Editor.<br />

• Database connections are created automatically when you create a new<br />

database instance with the Database Instance Wizard. If you want to create a<br />

new database connection without creating a new database instance you need to<br />

use the Database Instance Editor.<br />

• When you create or modify a database login or database connection, make sure<br />

the default database login and database connection are set correctly before you<br />

exit the Database Instance Editor.<br />

Delete a database connection<br />

Open the Database Instance Editor.<br />

In the General tab, select the database connection you want to delete.<br />

Click Delete.<br />

Click OK.<br />
