Before you begin using the Database Instance Editor, you should:<br />

• understand ODBC and related concepts such as DSNs, database drivers, and<br />

driver execution modes<br />

• be familiar with database connections and database logins<br />

• know what, if any, database table prefixes are required for your databases<br />

• understand job prioritizations and how they apply to your system<br />

• understand VLDB properties<br />

• have system administration privileges<br />

Database Instance Editor layout<br />

The Database Instance Editor has the following tabs:<br />

• General<br />

Database Instance Editor: General tab<br />

The General tab allows you to:<br />

• specify the database instance name<br />

• specify the type of database to which the database instance refers<br />

• upgrade database type and VLDB properties<br />
