• create or modify a database connection via the Database Connections window<br />

Click Delete to remove the selected database connection. To create a new database<br />

connection, click New. To modify an existing database connection, select the one<br />

to modify and click Modify.<br />

The Advanced tab allows you to specify:<br />

• the database name and table space name required for intermediate table<br />

storage, if any<br />

• the primary database instance to be used for database gateway support<br />

Database Instance Editor: Job Prioritization tab<br />

The Job Prioritization tab allows you to:<br />

• create, delete, or modify job prioritization schemes<br />

• change the number of connections used for each priority<br />

Click New to launch the Job Prioritization Wizard, which allows you to create<br />

new job prioritizations. Right-click a job prioritization entry to modify or delete<br />

the selected entry.<br />

Upgrade database type<br />

In the General tab of the Database Instance Editor, the database connection type<br />

specifies the type of database that the database instance represents, for example,<br />

Oracle 8.0 or IBM DB2 UDB 7. This setting ensures that the appropriate default<br />

VLDB properties are used for the database type. The settings are read from the<br />

Database.PDS file supplied by <strong>MicroStrategy</strong>. This file is located in the<br />

<strong>MicroStrategy</strong> common files folder, which by default is<br />

C:\Program Files\Common Files\<strong>MicroStrategy</strong><br />
