From the Tools menu, choose Diagnostics. The Diagnostics<br />

Configuration Editor opens.<br />

In the Trace tab, select the check boxes corresponding to the components<br />

for which you wish to create a log file.<br />

Check the Log file check box.<br />

Specify the other log file options such as the location where the log file will<br />

be saved, the name of the log file, and the maximum size.<br />

Click Save and Close.<br />

In <strong>MicroStrategy</strong> Desktop, perform the task for which you are creating a<br />

log file.<br />

For example, if you want to create a log for the Fact Editor, you would follow<br />

these steps:<br />

Select the Fact Editor check box in the Trace tab of the Diagnostics<br />

Configuration Editor<br />

Click Save and Close.<br />

Return to <strong>MicroStrategy</strong> Desktop and use the Fact Editor. A log file will be<br />

produced containing information about the activities you performed in the Fact<br />

Editor.<br />

Filter information in a log file<br />

In the Log Viewer, open the log file you wish to filter.<br />

On the toolbar, click Filter Logs. The Filter Sets dialog box opens.<br />

Click Add Filter Set. The Filter Logs dialog box opens.<br />
