1.Beeswax & holder
Used for hand quilting, this product
keeps threads from tangling and helps it
glide through fabric when hand sewing.
2. Button hole spacer
This little measuring tool has a couple
of different uses. Most commonly you
would use it at the sewing machine or
with fabric spread on an ironing board
to ensure your seams are uniform in
size but also, of course, it’s for ensuring
you’re creating an even amount of space
between button holes and that you have
enough room to get the button through
the hole in the garment or object you’re
sewing.
3. Magnetic seam guide
This little charmer helps you stitch
even seams, tucks, and pleats without
marking. It’s great if your eyesight’s not
perfect but, really, can be useful to any
sewer. You put the fabric against the
edge
of the guide and
stitch away. You’ll always
achieve uniform seam widths.
Not for use on computerised
machines.
4.Loop turner
This long wire with a tiny hook turns
fabric ‘tunnels’ so you can create
spaghetti straps, or other narrow cords
or straps. A ‘must have’ for sewers the
turner is also handy for anyone needing
to retrieve elastic or cording that has
gone ‘awol’.
5. Hemming tape
For beginner sewers and sewing
emergencies – this is another essential
in your sewing kit. Great for quick
hemming jobs; you just iron it on. The
double-sided adhesive on hemming tape
creates a strong bond to last through
repeated washes. It’s great for patching
garments or for saving time when it
comes to hemming curtains. •
