Access to health services is very high with regard to<br />

pregnancy and childbirth. More than 95 percent of<br />

deliveries have the opportunity of taking place in a health<br />

facility, and more than 95 per cent of women have the<br />

opportunity of getting a tetanus injection during pregnancy<br />

(Table 3.6). Globally, between 2000 and 2010, only 66<br />

percent of births were assisted by health personnel. 97<br />

Despite slight variations across <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lanka</strong>, 90 percent of<br />

pregnant women have access to health facilities, even on<br />

estates where accessibility is difficult.<br />
