palpitations. Her pulse is irregular.<br />

2 A 30-year-old Asian man compla<strong>in</strong>s of fever, weight loss, night sweats and<br />

persistent cough.<br />

3 A 55-year-old woman presents with abdom<strong>in</strong>al pa<strong>in</strong>, weight loss and fatty<br />

stools. She also compla<strong>in</strong>s of extremely uncomfortable itchy blisters on her<br />

knees and elbows.<br />

4 A 10-year-old boy presents with a history of weight loss and excessive thirst.<br />

5 A 24-year-old woman compla<strong>in</strong>s of tiredness and difficulty <strong>in</strong> concentrat<strong>in</strong>g at<br />

university. On exam<strong>in</strong>ation she has marked weight loss and lanugo hair. Blood<br />

tests reveal a mild hypokalaemia.<br />
