spasm after thyroid surgery.<br />

3 A 30-year-old man be<strong>in</strong>g treated for a systemic fungal <strong>in</strong>fection presents with<br />

muscle weakness, arrhythmias and tetany. His ECG shows prolonged P–R <strong>in</strong>terval<br />

and prom<strong>in</strong>ent U waves.<br />

4 A 50-year-old woman on total parenteral nutrition (TPN) presents with red<br />

crusted lesions around the nostrils and corner of the mouth.<br />

5 A 45-year-old woman presents with thirst, abdom<strong>in</strong>al pa<strong>in</strong> and history of renal<br />

stones.<br />
