cooperate in the research programs of the individual centres,<br />
which promote demand and user orientation of innovation<br />
processes. Centres will also act as gateways to international<br />
cooperation and as avenues for training and recruitment.<br />
Tekes also participates in the coordination of the centres as<br />
a whole and in the cooperation forum between the centres.<br />
Public funding organizations have made a commitment to<br />
providing funding for the centres in the long term. Tekes and<br />
the Academy of Finland 66 <strong>are</strong> key public funding providers<br />
of the centres.<br />
While Tekes supports the centre’s research programs and projects<br />
initiated by companies, the Academy of Finland funds research<br />
carried out in the <strong>are</strong>as of the centre’s fields of activity.<br />

Financing structure of projects<br />
• Up to 75% contribution from the SHOK program for the establishment of<br />
the centres and research carried out by them.<br />
• In addition to the SHOK funding additional research/innovation projects <strong>are</strong><br />
financed from other national programs (e.g. the Academy of Finland) or<br />
EU programs.<br />
Overall companies <strong>are</strong> expected to co-fund an average of 40% of the research.<br />
