7.9 Activation <strong>and</strong> assignment <strong>of</strong> case numbers<br />
<strong>Data</strong>base operation manual<br />
Each partner has a reserved interval <strong>of</strong> case numbers that can be assigned on<br />
request when a new IA is activated by remote connecting to the central server,<br />
to avoid overlapping <strong>of</strong> case number in different applications <strong>of</strong> the same<br />
partner or <strong>of</strong> different partners. All the mechanism <strong>of</strong> assigning case numbers is<br />
managed by the server located at D.I.T.S.<br />

Each IA needs to be activated to work <strong>for</strong> data entry <strong>and</strong> edit. The activation is<br />
done through a sftp connection to the central server.<br />
During the activation phase:<br />
1. The Activation User must request the total number <strong>of</strong> road <strong>accident</strong> case<br />
<strong>for</strong> WP5.1 <strong>and</strong>/or WP5.2 they are going to enter.<br />
2. In<strong>for</strong>mation about the position <strong>of</strong> the application in the file system, the<br />
activation user <strong>and</strong> the hard disk are stored in the database.<br />
This in<strong>for</strong>mation is used to prevent duplication <strong>of</strong> case records <strong>and</strong> to provide<br />
special rights to the primary user.<br />
