5.3 Type 2: Turning <strong>of</strong>f Accident<br />

Definition: A turning <strong>accident</strong> occurred when there was a conflict between a turning road user <strong>and</strong> a road user coming from the<br />

same direction or the opposite direction (pedestrians included!). This applies at crossings, junctions <strong>of</strong> roads <strong>and</strong> farm tracks<br />

as well as access to properties or parking lots.<br />

Conflict between a vehicle turning <strong>of</strong>f<br />

to the left <strong>and</strong> following traffic<br />

Type 21<br />

Conflict between a vehicle turning <strong>of</strong>f<br />

to the left <strong>and</strong> oncoming traffic<br />

Type 22<br />

Conflict between a vehicle turning <strong>of</strong>f<br />

to the left <strong>and</strong> a vehicle from a<br />

special path/track or a pedestrian<br />

going to the same or opposite<br />

direction<br />

Type 23<br />

Conflict between a vehicle turning <strong>of</strong>f<br />

to the right <strong>and</strong> following traffic<br />

Type 24<br />

Conflict between a vehicle turning <strong>of</strong>f<br />

to the right <strong>and</strong> a veh. from a special<br />

path/track or a pedestrian moving in<br />

to the same or opposite direction<br />
