1 = Sedan/saloon A vehicle with a horizontal load<br />
area lid, hinged at about waist<br />
level.<br />
2 = Hatchback A vehicle with a sloping load area<br />
door (which incorporates the rear<br />
window), hinged at ro<strong>of</strong> level. The<br />
door usually extends down to just<br />
below waist level.<br />
3 = Wagon/Estate A vehicle with a near vertical load<br />
area door (which incorporates the<br />
rear window), hinged at ro<strong>of</strong> level.<br />
The door extends down to the load<br />
area floor, which is usually level..<br />
4 = Sports/Coupe Sports: Low seated car with nearhorizontal<br />
steering column.<br />
Coupe: sloping ro<strong>of</strong> car with 2+2<br />
seating<br />
5 = Derivative A van or pick-up based on a car<br />
plat<strong>for</strong>m (Ford Fiesta van),<br />
sometimes this is a car based on<br />
