Referring to the vehicle’s direction <strong>of</strong> travel be<strong>for</strong>e the <strong>accident</strong>. Based on compass points<br />
down to inter-cardinal level i.e. SE, NW etc.<br />
This in<strong>for</strong>mation is <strong>of</strong>ten indicated on a scene plan.<br />
Relates to whether the vehicle (any type <strong>of</strong> vehicle, e.g. truck, car etc.) is carrying any<br />
dangerous cargo <strong>and</strong> whether or not this is placarded.<br />
Notification <strong>of</strong> dangerous cargo carried in packages will be given by a reflective orange<br />
plate, containerised dangerous goods contained in tankers should display hazard warning<br />
plates.<br />

Only calculated speeds from the police reports should be entered, when a range <strong>of</strong> speeds<br />
are given the lower speed should be entered with a comment <strong>for</strong> the upper limits.<br />
Other speed calculations or estimates can be entered in the comments box, <strong>for</strong> example a<br />
collision speed calculated from crush. Additionally speed in<strong>for</strong>mation can be derived from<br />
tachograph charts fitted to most modern trucks.<br />
