Accident Classification System (GDV)<br />
Note: To determine the <strong>accident</strong> type, only the conflict situation which led to the <strong>accident</strong> is important. If <strong>and</strong> how road users<br />
collided (the <strong>accident</strong> manner) is <strong>of</strong> no importance <strong>for</strong> the determination <strong>of</strong> the <strong>accident</strong> type. The mistake <strong>of</strong> the road users<br />
(the <strong>accident</strong> cause) is basically never <strong>of</strong> importance.<br />
If <strong>for</strong> example an <strong>accident</strong> occurs due to a conflict between vehicle <strong>and</strong> a pedestrian crossing the road, it is a pedestrian<br />
<strong>accident</strong>. This is independent <strong>of</strong> the following course <strong>of</strong> the <strong>accident</strong> (e.g. if the Pedestrian was hit or not, if the car leaves the<br />
road due to an avoidance manoeuvre, <strong>of</strong> if the car was hit by following traffic due to harsh braking) <strong>and</strong> independent <strong>of</strong> who is<br />
to blame <strong>for</strong> the <strong>accident</strong> (e.g. if the pedestrian or the vehicle had priority).<br />
