Una casa in campagna è al centro della narrazione,
condotta dal testo e dalle immagini, grandi scenari a
colori in cui campeggia lei, la protagonista, testimone
immobile e vibrante al tempo stesso degli eventi più
significativi della storia del ventesimo secolo. La lettura
ad alta voce del testo si riempie di significato
attraverso quella delle immagini, ricche di particolari.
L’osservazione attenta delle scene permette, ogni volta
che si sfogliano le pagine, di cogliere nuovi dettagli
del racconto e di sentirne l’emozione. Così, via via che
si legge, la casa, lontana dall’essere solo testimone
passiva, si carica di significati emotivi, riflette nelle
sue trasformazioni i mutamenti sociali, i momenti
quotidiani allegri, drammatici e tristi della vita di una
famiglia, che è poi la vita del nostro paese.
Casa del tempo è un libro eterno, un’opera adatta
dagli 0 ai 99 anni, e non poteva non essere presente
in questa lista, doveroso omaggio a una delle figure
di spicco dell’illustrazione italiana, Roberto Innocenti,
vincitore.... , e a un grande scrittore italiano per
bambini, molto amato, Roberto Piumini, che lo
accompagna con il suo bel testo poetico.

“A child is a small person. He lingers small just
for a while, then he becomes an adult. He grows
up without even noticing it.” The book tells us
that a child is all this and more and it describes,
as a sort of catalogue highlighting the various
faces of children, their hopes, their doubts, their
daily problems as they are growing up. The book
introduces us to the core of a child’s life through
the poetry of their daily life and it is also able to
sensitively refer to the small and bigger dramas
of adult life. Intense, deep and thoughtful, the
book reaches out to children and to adults who
share with children the pictures and the simple
imaginative style of writing. The story extends
an invitation to respect diversity and to also
recognise what makes children (but also adults!)
alike: the desire of “a small light at night and kind
eyes”, or in other words the need for love and
solace when one is scared or in trouble.
“Un bambino è una persona piccola. E’ piccolo solo
per un po’, poi diventa grande. Cresce senza neanche
farci caso.”. Questa e molte altre cose è un bambino, ci
dice il libro, che ci presenta, in una specie di catalogo,
le molte facce dei bambini, le loro speranze, le
perplessità, i problemi di tutti i giorni, lungo il percorso
della crescita. Il libro sa introdurci all’essenza della
vita di un bambino attraverso la poesia delle cose
quotidiane e sa alludere con delicatezza ai piccoli
grandi drammi della vita adulta.
Intenso, profondo, delicato, parla ai bambini e agli
adulti che li accompagnano con immagini a tutta
pagina e un testo poetico e semplice solo in
apparenza, che si presta a diversi livelli di riflessione
e di approfondimento: un bell’invito al rispetto di
ciò che rende diversi e al riconoscimento di ciò che
invece accomuna i piccoli (ma anche i grandi!), ovvero
“una lucina di notte e occhi gentili”, cioè, in definitiva,
il bisogno di essere amati e di avere conforto nei
momenti di paura e di difficoltà.
