Sir: I have the honor of presenting herewith my annual report as<br />

Mine Inspector of the Fourth Anthracite District for the year <strong>1900</strong>.<br />

It contains the usual tabular statements of mine accidents, the<br />

number of each class of employes, quantity of coal produced and other<br />

useful memoranda. Comparing these with the records for IS!*!),<br />

the result is as follows:<br />

Production of coal in 1899 was (tons), 8,648,152.06<br />

Production of coal in <strong>1900</strong> was (tons), 8,585,741.05<br />

Being a reduction of production of (tons), 02,411.01<br />

Number of employes in 1899 was 23,668<br />

Number of employes in <strong>1900</strong> was, 23,067<br />

A reduct ion in number of, 601<br />

Average number of days work in 1899 was, 168.61<br />

Average number of days worked in <strong>1900</strong> was 161.96<br />

Being 6.65 days less than in 1899.<br />

Number of fatal accidents in 1899 was 81<br />

Number of fatal accidents in <strong>1900</strong> was 71<br />

Number of non-fatal accidents in 1899 was, 188<br />

Number of non-fatal accidents in <strong>1900</strong> was 244<br />

An increase of non-fatal accidents in <strong>1900</strong> of 56<br />
