Resolved, That this agreement shall be binding on both parties, if<br />

the employe of the company is killed in or about the works, but no<br />

employe is to derive any benefit while off on pleasure, such as fishing,<br />

gunning, etc., or through malicious conduct.<br />

Resolved, That in case any employe of the company is injured and<br />

loses a limb, arm or leg, two eyes, or is otherwise disabled so as to<br />

unfit him for work, for the period of one year, by approval of the<br />

colliery physician, same amount shall be contributed.<br />

Resolved, Providing there are no relatives as above stated, the<br />

funeral expenses shall be paid, pro rata, out of a collection from the<br />

employes and the company.<br />

Resolved, That the standing committee, Patrick McLaughlin,<br />

•James Rhoda, Fred. Lesser, John Mattie and A. C. Leisenring shall<br />

adjust all matters pertaining to the burial of deceased persons, and<br />

see that all money collected be paid to the proper person, and all<br />

bills contracted be paid, within the limit of the amount collected.<br />

Resolved, That after all matters have been settled, there shall be<br />

a statement posted at the office.<br />

Resolved, That it shall be the duty of the standing committee to<br />

regulate all<br />

matters not included in the above resolutions, and call<br />

a public meeting when necessary.<br />

Examination of Applicants for Mine Foreman and Assistant Mine<br />

Foreman's Certificates.<br />

The annual examination of applicants for certificates of qualification<br />

for mine foreman and assistants was held in the Pine Street<br />

school building, at Hazleton, June 28 and 29, <strong>1900</strong>.<br />

The board of examiners was \Y. II. Davies, Inspector; A. W.<br />

Drake, superintendent; Robert Munroe and Patrick Kelley, miners.<br />

Twenty applicants appeared before the board for examination. Of<br />

this number two failed, and the following eighteen passed satisfactory<br />

examinations and were recommended and received certificates:<br />
