A MAR assessment addresses the risk of major accidents with thepotential to cause harm to people and/or the environment and to have a seriousadverse impact on the Group’s reputation.A ‘‘key performance indicator” used by managers to track safety performance; tocompare or benchmark safety performance against the performance of other companiesor facilities; and to set goals for continuous improvement of safety performance.Team composed of BP employees and contractors charged with the task ofinvestigating the circumstances surrounding the Texas City accident to determine theroot causes, make recommendations to prevent a recurrence, and identify lessonslearned.National Petrochemical and Refiners AssociationAn organized effort to identify and evaluate hazards associated with chemicalprocesses and operations to enable their control.
