And, I am pleased to note,we are starting to reap the fruits of our labour. Recentamendments to the Competition Bill and the CompaniesBill, for example, were hard earned, necessary changesthat have been welcomed by businesses.As outgoing Chairman Anthony Wu mentionedin his report at the AGM, the Chamber submitted35 policy papers in 2011, all of which were quality,thoroughly researched and debated ideas. We believethat quality speaks for itself, and that will never change.One area of our policy advocacy efforts that we arechanging, however, is our decision to be more vocalin presenting the views of business by cultivatingrelationships with like-minded business organizations,the media and opinion leaders. In short, we are raisingour volume and people are listening.We are also becoming more visible, as the HKGCCFree Ride Day on May 29 showed. Our new ChairmanC K Chow, together with General Committee members,sponsors and staff kicked off Free Ride Day and handedout souvenirs to the public on the trams and Star Ferry.We hope that by inviting the public to celebrate ourbirthday with us, people will understand more aboutthe Chamber and the work that we do.Free Ride Day is just one part of the greater attentionwe are putting into community building work. In thecoming months, you will be hearing more about ourGood Citizen Award, which will celebrate its 40thanniversary next year, as well as our Business-SchoolPartnership Programme, among others.We, ourselves, are also listening to members andadjusting the mix of programmes and activities thatwe offer.
