Multimodal PackagesMarketing and Outreach ProgramsEnhanced Corridor MarketingThis strategy includes targeted marketing (direct mail, newspaper advertisements) for TDMand transit along the corridor and in feeder markets, including reverse flow markets. The strategywould increase awareness of transit options and supportive TDM program elements andencourage mode shift.Rideshare Program Operational SupportThis strategy provides for additional staff for commuter assistance programs in the corridor topromote carpooling and transit services. The staff is assumed to be primarily assigned toArlington and Fairfax County.Enhanced Telework!VAThe enhanced Telework!VA strategy adds new financial incentives for Virginia employersand/or extends the level of assistance previously available. With an infusion of $500,000 peryear, the incentive can be used to assist 20 employers with setting up a telework program.Enhanced Employer OutreachEmployer Outreach programs act as the linchpin through which most of the other TDM servicesare provided or promoted. These programs typically include marketing of all modes, telework assistance, transit benefit program assistance, and vanpool and carpool programpromotion. This strategy increases the funding to Fairfax and Arlington County to increasetheir outreach and assistance services to employers within the study area. This could include:Staff support for outreach and assistance to employers;Financial incentives/cost-sharing for employer-provided worksite services; andMarketing programs and materials to communicate and encourage use of the full range oftransportation options available in the corridor.Vanpool ProgramsVanpool Driver IncentiveThis strategy provides incentives to attract new drivers and retain existing drivers for vanpools. The subsidy assumed for this strategy would be small, but it would still serve to encouragenew vanpools, particularly in combination with other vanpool-supportive strategies. Since thevanpool rider would not receive this incentive, it is assumed to have a minimal trip reductionbenefit separate from other vanpool strategies.Enhanced Virginia Vanpool Insurance PoolThis strategy was part of the I-66 Transit/TDM study and provides affordable insurance coveragefor vanpools by increasing the insurance premium buy-down for vanpools.
