IntroductionStudy WebpageThe I-66 Multimodal Study webpage can be found on the VDOT web site athttp://www.virginiadot.org/projects/northernvirginia/i-66_multimodal_study.asp. A shortcut was provided via the domain name www.i66multimodalstudy.com. The webpage was arepository for the factsheets and major study deliverables. It also provided contact information,including a study telephone number and e-mail address to facilitate public commentthroughout the study. The telephone number was 855-STUDY66 (788-3966) and the e-mailaddress was info@i66multimodalstudy.com. Each were active and monitored from thebeginning of the study through the conclusion of the final study comment period.Project FactsheetsFour factsheets were prepared over the course of the study and were released at key milestones.These factsheets were intended for public consumption and were used to inform thepublic and other stakeholders about study progress and key findings. They were made availableon the study webpage, and are included in Appendix A.1.4 Summary of the Interim ReportThe Interim Report released in December of 2011 documented the initial data collection andforecasting efforts. The Interim Report is intended as a companion piece to this Final Report. Itwas released in advance of the initial round of public meetings and formed the principal basisof discussion at these meetings. The Interim Report is broken into seven sections, some ofwhich already have been referenced above. Following an introductory section, Section 2.0,Study Area Definition, defines and describes the refinement of the study area, taking intoaccount consultations with project advisors and the PARC. Section 3.0, Issues and Needs,identifies issues and needs, including regional factors that influence travel and key indicators.Section 4.0, Evaluation Methodology, covers the methods for identification of mobility optionelements, the formulation of and assessment of mobility options, and the formulation andassessment of mobility option packages. Section 5.0, Mobility Options Elements, presents thefull list of mobility option elements by category. Section 6.0, Market Research, presents keyfindings from the market research effort. Section 7.0, Next Steps, presents the key near-termwork items at the time of the report publication that were required to move the study tocompletion.1.5 Organization of the Final ReportThe remainder of this Final Report builds on and complements the Interim Report. Section 2.0,Mobility Options, describes the approach to selecting mobility options, the evaluation processapplied for the mobility options, and the evaluation findings for each of the mobility options.Section 3.0, Multimodal Packages, describes how the study team used the output from testingthe mobility options to assemble four multimodal packages and presents the evaluation resultsfor each package. Section 4.0, Recommendations, discusses conclusions drawn from the evaluationof the multimodal packages. Section 5.0, Potential Funding Approaches, provides a1-6 I-66 Multimodal Study
Introductionqualitative assessment of existing funding approaches for multimodal transportation investmentsas well as a discussion of potential options that could be considered to fundimprovements.Five appendices provide supplemental documentation to support the study findings.Appendix A includes the public information and participation activities. Appendix B presentsthe market research findings. Appendix C discusses the travel demand forecasting modelvalidation. Appendix D provides cost estimate details.
