Demonstration plants<br />

Flocculation, precipitation, filtration, flotation and centrifugation have been<br />

tested in pilot-scale for concentrating and dewatering <strong>the</strong> suspended precipitates.<br />

A reduction in suspended solids of 99-99.5% is possible.<br />

Flocculation with very high-molecular anionic polymers at a level of 2-5 ppm<br />

quickly ga<strong>the</strong>red <strong>the</strong> suspended precipitates and flocculated within few minutes<br />

with a very low level of suspended solids in <strong>the</strong> water. Fur<strong>the</strong>r more, highmolecular<br />

anionic polymers precipitate <strong>the</strong> cationic coagulation polymers,<br />

whereby a surplus, if present, will flocculate out of <strong>the</strong> water.<br />

Based on pilot-tests, a DynaSand contact filtration system was installed <strong>to</strong><br />

decolourize <strong>the</strong> biologically treated waste-water at Martensens Fabrik A/S.<br />

Designed waste-water flow is 4.000 m 3 /day, but <strong>the</strong> flow can be as low as<br />

1.000 m 3 /day.<br />

The system comprises five DynaSand units and a flow-proportional in-line<br />

addition of one of <strong>the</strong> specialized organic polymers.
