Entry Requirements<br />
(Nursing Administration, Nursing Education and<br />
Clinical Nurse Specialist)<br />
The programme is <strong>of</strong>fered to general or trained nurses<br />
who hold registration/licensure in <strong>the</strong>ir current<br />
jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> practice; can verify first licensure/registration<br />
if it is different from that which is currently<br />
held, and is eligible for licensure/registration in any<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> countries served by <strong>the</strong> UWI. AND<br />
1. have a total three (3) years post RN licensure/<br />
registration clinical practice as a registered nurse in<br />
an approved recognized agency, institution or organization<br />
where Primary, Secondary, Tertiary or<br />
extended Health Care Services are <strong>of</strong>fered. Applicants<br />
requiring admission to an Advanced Nursing<br />
Practice programme must have three (3) years current<br />
clinical practice. The time spent on any educational<br />
programme is not included in this three (3)<br />
years requirement.<br />
2. Hold an undergraduate degree with normally not<br />
less than second class honors. OR<br />
3. Hold a graduate degree. OR<br />
4. Hold approved technical and/or pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
qualification(s) awarded by an approved body and<br />
approved by this <strong>University</strong> and currently hold a middle<br />
level position. OR<br />
5. Have in <strong>the</strong> opinion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
qualification(s) and experience <strong>of</strong> special relevance<br />
to/<strong>the</strong> programme.<br />
An applicant may be required to:-<br />
Sit an Entrance Examination and/or<br />
Attend an interview and/or<br />
Have a period or orientation appropriate to <strong>the</strong>ir programme<br />
<strong>of</strong> interest, BEFORE admission<br />
An applicant will:-<br />
1. Have <strong>the</strong> relevant educational transcripts sent directly<br />
by <strong>the</strong> educational institution to <strong>the</strong> UWI<br />
2. complete a portfolio relevant to nursing education/<br />
