Course Description:<br />

MICR6210 <strong>Medical</strong> Bacteriology<br />

The module will provide candidates with advanced<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> General and Systematic <strong>Medical</strong> Bacteriology.<br />

Core elements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> course are principles<br />

<strong>of</strong> bacterial classification and pathogenesis, prevention,<br />

treatment and control for medically important<br />

bacterial infections. Fur<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong> module will enable<br />

<strong>the</strong> student to understand <strong>the</strong> principles, advantages<br />

and limitations <strong>of</strong> commonly performed laboratory<br />

diagnostic methods for bacterial isolation and identification.<br />

MICR6380 <strong>Medical</strong> Virology<br />

The course will provide candidates with advanced<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> medical virology. At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> this<br />

module, <strong>the</strong> student should demonstrate an understanding<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> principles <strong>of</strong> viral classification,<br />

pathogenesis, prevention, treatment and control.<br />

Fur<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong> module will enable <strong>the</strong> student to understand<br />

<strong>the</strong> principles, advantages and limitations <strong>of</strong><br />

commonly performed laboratory diagnostic methods<br />

for viral isolation and identification.<br />

MICR6285 Applied <strong>Medical</strong> Immunology<br />

The course aims to provide an understanding <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
