Course OG63A: Tutorials on <strong>the</strong> Research Project<br />
These sessions have been designed as tutorials<br />
whose purpose is to assist students on a weekly<br />
basis via teleconferencing, as <strong>the</strong>y work on <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
research projects. The presenters will act as resource<br />
persons and <strong>the</strong> tutorials will be developed<br />
and directed by students to meet <strong>the</strong>ir own needs<br />
for supervision as <strong>the</strong>y design and conduct research<br />
and write <strong>the</strong>ir projects.<br />
The Research Proposal<br />
At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first week <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first semester in<br />
<strong>the</strong> third year, MSc students are required to submit<br />
a research proposal on a subject that is <strong>of</strong> interest<br />
to <strong>the</strong>m and that is in keeping with Counselling and<br />
Psycho<strong>the</strong>rapy.<br />
Additional Information/Notes:<br />
MSc Counselling students are also required to participate<br />
in a <strong>the</strong>rapy group at each site, hence <strong>the</strong><br />
need to have a minimum <strong>of</strong> six persons at each site<br />
to form a viable <strong>the</strong>rapy group.<br />
Short In-Service Departmental Training Courses for<br />
Registered Nurses, Nurse-Midwives, Nurse Practitioners<br />
and Obstetricians and Gynaecologists are<br />
also <strong>of</strong>fered for continuing education:<br />
1. Family Planning and Sterilization Techniques for<br />
Nurses (February 15- 26, 2010).<br />
2. Family Planning and Reproductive Health Administration<br />
(May 10-21, 2010)<br />
3. Sexual and Reproductive Health for <strong>Medical</strong> Doctors<br />
and Senior Nurses (October 18-29, 2010).<br />

The Department <strong>of</strong> Pathology <strong>of</strong>fers three gradu-<br />
ate courses leading to <strong>the</strong> DM (Pathology) Degree<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>West</strong> <strong>Indies</strong>. These training<br />
programmes are designed to produce graduates<br />
for consultant posts in <strong>the</strong> various subspecialties <strong>of</strong><br />
Pathology in <strong>the</strong> Commonwealth Caribbean. Candidates<br />
