FMMS6401 Health Care <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Elderly<br />

The problems facing <strong>the</strong> elderly in <strong>the</strong> Caribbean<br />

are discussed and an ethical approach to <strong>the</strong> elderly<br />

in keeping with psychosocial <strong>the</strong>ories is promoted.<br />

Skills in managing common problems <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> elderly<br />

are discussed.<br />

FMMS6402 Counselling<br />

The student is exposed to <strong>the</strong> common mental health<br />

diseases in <strong>the</strong> community. Guidelines and protocols<br />

for <strong>the</strong> management <strong>of</strong> common mental health problems<br />

are discussed and <strong>the</strong> principles <strong>of</strong> counselling<br />

Primary Care<br />

The impact <strong>of</strong> Law on health care is explored. Important<br />

medico-legal issues are discussed and skills in<br />

dealing with <strong>the</strong>se issues introduced.<br />
