Course Description:<br />
The DM Anatomical Pathology programme is a four<br />
year graduate courses which aims to provide <strong>the</strong><br />
graduate with <strong>the</strong> knowledge and skills to function<br />
as a consultant Anatomical Pathologist equipped for<br />
independent practice in hospital-based and standalone<br />
clinical laboratories.<br />
Additional Information/Notes:<br />
During <strong>the</strong> programme, students will be expected to<br />
teach undergraduate medical students and o<strong>the</strong>r allied<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and to present <strong>the</strong> research work<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> department at learned conferences locally and<br />
internationally. With advancement through <strong>the</strong> programme,<br />
senior students will be involved in <strong>the</strong> guidance<br />
<strong>of</strong> residents at lower stages <strong>of</strong> training.<br />

Programme Objectives:<br />
The objectives <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme are to:<br />
Provide a solid foundation in <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>ory and practice<br />
<strong>of</strong> pathology as a clinical laboratory science<br />
Provide training in <strong>the</strong> diagnosis <strong>of</strong> disease by labo-<br />
ratory methods<br />
Provide <strong>the</strong> graduate with <strong>the</strong> knowledge and skills<br />
to function as a consultant Pathologist equipped for<br />
independent practice in hospital-based and standalone<br />
clinical laboratories<br />
Encourage <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> attitudes that are essential<br />
for life-long learning, scholarly enquiry and<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional problem solving as pathologists in <strong>the</strong><br />
context <strong>of</strong> an evolving body <strong>of</strong> scientific and pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
knowledge<br />

Applicants should be <strong>Medical</strong> Graduates <strong>of</strong> a <strong>University</strong><br />
or <strong>Medical</strong> School recognized by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>West</strong> <strong>Indies</strong> and fully registered in <strong>the</strong> territory<br />
or territories in which training will take place<br />
