Where there was more than one poll in the year, results have been averaged.Immigration tracking surveys indicate a steady decline in the proportion who considerthat there are too many immigrants coming to Canada: an average of 45 per cent in1996, 37 per cent in 2001, 30 per cent in 2005, 27 per cent in 2009 <strong>and</strong> 23 per cent19 20in 2010.Other time series data is provided by Gallup Canada <strong>and</strong> the Environics ResearchGroup. Of 19 Gallup surveys conducted in Canada between 1975 <strong>and</strong> 2005, thosewho favoured a reduction in the intake was only above 50 per cent on one occasion,<strong>and</strong> on no occasion did it reach 60 per cent.
