STUDENT ATHLETE HANDBOOKCompliancePlaying and Practice RegulationsPlaying and practice hours are strictly regulated by the NCAA. Each student-athlete is limited to the number of “countable athleticallyrelated activities” they engage in each day and week. These limits are in place to ensure that student-athletes maintain an appropriatebalance as both students and athletes. Activities which are “non-countable athletically related activities” do not count against practiceand playing limitations. Student-athletes may not participate in countable athletically related activities for more than:In Season (during the academic year)Four hours per dayOut of Season (during the academic year)8 hours per week20 hours per week 2 mandatory days off per week1 mandatory day off per weekThe daily and weekly hour limitations DO NOT apply during pre-season practice prior to the first day of classes or the first scheduledcontest, whichever is earlier, or during an institution's term-time official vacation period (e.g., Thanksgiving, spring break), as listed inthe institution's official calendar, and during the academic year between terms when classes are not in session.The required day(s) off may occur on any day of the week and may change from week to week.
