COURSE DESCRIPTIONSADM 330 Organizational Systems (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completions Program StudentsIn today's business world, competition necessitates that anyorganization first establish and then sustain, a competitiveadvantage. This can only be accomplished by organizations thatare functioning effectively across the many dimensions oforganizational behavior. This course examines the threedimensions of individual behavior in organizations, groups andsocial processes and organizational processes.ADM 331 Group and Team Dynamics (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Program StudentsOnlyThis course explores the nature of groups and teams in theworkplace. It looks at group and team theory and seeks toprovide the learner a guide for practical application of thattheory in the participation, leadership and management ofgroups and teams in the professional environment. Participantswill develop a critical view of groups and teams, and be able todesign, assess and critique effective group and team practice.ADM 332 Organizational Communications (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Program StudentsOnlyThe business communications course addresses the multiplemeans through which effective communications take place in thebusiness environment. The course explores different aspects ofcommunications including verbal and non-verbal, conflict andconflict resolution and presents multiple theories addressingmodern issues in communication in the workplace whileequipping adult learners to identify and address issues impactingcommunications.Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permissionStudents will participate in the design of and grant writing for aspecific project, taking it from beginning stages of development,through project research into grant writing. Students mustcontract with appropriate faculty for 50 hours of applicationwork per academic credit. A maximum of four credits possibleover junior and senior years.AM 320 Fine Arts Management Practicum II (1-4 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permissionStudents will participate in the preparation necessary to presentartistic events on campus. Projects could include theorganization, promotion and mounting of an exhibition, thebooking and promotion of concerts, theater or dance events orother appropriate arts activities. Students must contract withappropriate faculty for 50 hours of application work peracademic credit. A maximum of eight credits possible over juniorand senior years.AM 450 Fine Arts Management Internship (1-4 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permissionPlacement in area not-for-profit arts organizations. Studentsmust contract with appropriate arts administrator for 50 hours ofinternship application per academic credit. A maximum of eightcredits possible.ART (AT)AT 102 Design (4 SH)A foundation course providing a working understanding of basictwo-dimensional design principles in black and white and color,with emphasis on formal elements and principles of art.ADM 490 Capstone Project (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Program StudentsOnlyThis integrative course provides a capstone to the entire degreecompletionprogram. Learners will complete a significant projectdrawing upon learning outcomes from prior courses. The projectwill include how to identify and define a workplace problem, howto find information and literature sources related to it and howto evaluate and utilize identified sources leading to a viableaction plan for resolution. In addition to the written analysis,students will present their project to their instructor and cohort.ARTS MANAGEMENT (AM)AM 300 Principles of Fine Arts Management (4 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permission.An analysis of the management of nonprofit arts organizations,such as museums, performing groups, service organizations andgovernment agencies. Other faculty and arts professionals will bebrought in to discuss particular areas of arts administration.Course will be taught in seminar format.AT 103 Dimensional Design (4 SH)This course is a foundation class which provides a workingunderstanding of three-dimensional design principles with anemphasis on formal elements and principles of threedimensionalart. Students are also introduced to materials andtechniques of three-dimensional processes.AT 104 Experiencing the Visual Arts (4 SH)An introduction to the basic elements and forms of visual art inboth theory and practice. Students will analyze a variety of formsrepresenting both historical and contemporary periods.
