COURSE DESCRIPTIONSBI 350 Internship in Biology (1-5 SH)Opportunities for field studies under professional supervisionduring the academic year or summer. Junior or senior status isrequired.BI 450 Clinical Observation (1 SH)Semester Offered: Fall and SpringPre-Requisite(s): Declared biology/pre-occupational therapy orbiology/pre-physical therapy major, junior standing andpermission of the instructorThis course provides the students with an opportunity to activelyobserve a licensed therapist in a real-world situation where theywill learn about the day-to-day activities of the practice and thevariable needs and circumstances of the patients who seektreatment there. This is a variable credit course. Students willcomplete 50 hours of observation/volunteer work on-site foreach hour of credit and be evaluated directly by the supervisorytherapist, pr therapists, if more than one site is observed.BI 490 Biology Senior Capstone (2 SH)Semester Offered: Fall and SpringPre-Requisite(s): Senior StatusThis course will offer the opportunity for the student toparticipate in directed studies or research in the biologicalsciences in consultation with the biology faculty. The student willdetermine a research focus for the semester; gather publishedresearch; conduct original research, as appropriate; and preparea comprehensive thesis describing the state of the science intheir focus area.
