COURSE DESCRIPTIONSADM 301 Accounting for Managers (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Programs StudentsOnlyIn this course, the learner will build on the fundamentals coveredin earlier, introductory accounting courses. The learner will beintroduced to a number of tools and reports that aid in theplanning and control cycle. Cost allocation methods make itpossible to provide information regarding business operations.Break-even analysis helps managers understand how profits areaffected by selling prices, volume, unit variable costs and mixedcosts. Budgeting provides the framework for organizationsplanning. The analysis of variance from the planned budget givesinsight into the operations of the organization and provides amechanism for controlling operations. Learners will bechallenged to develop relevant accounting-related skills and tointegrate accounting knowledge with broader managementissues.ADM 302 Economics for Managers (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Program StudentsOnlyThis course focuses upon the principles of economics, both microand macro, as they need to be understood and used by managersand supervisors in all fields. This survey of the field will allowmanagers at every level and in every type of organization, tounderstand and be able to use the principles of economics to aidin making sound decisions. Among the topics covered are themarket forces of supply and demand; how economic factorsaffect business; consumer demand and behavior; marketstructures such as monopoly and oligopoly; key macroeconomicconcepts such as GDP, inflation and balance of payments; therole of the federal reserve and development of monetary policy;and the application of economic theory to real world examples.ADM 303 Finance for Managers (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Program StudentsOnlyIn this course, the learner will explore the financial tools availablefor planning and analysis, as well as how those tools are utilizedto manage cash flows and financial resources and to evaluatefuture investment opportunities. Three primary topics incorporate finance will be developed. These topics include theimportance of short-term finance for current operations, the useof capital budgeting tools for investment analysis and thefoundation of long term finance for defining the organization'scost of capital and optimal capital structure.awareness of how customer behavior and decision data arecollected and analyzed in the marketing planning process; andthe confidence to participate with other organizational membersto "connect with customers" in a variety of effective andmeaningful ways.ADM 320 Global Business (3 SH)Pre-Requisite(s): Adult Degree Completion Program StudentsOnlyThis course examines world trade and the processes thatmanagers go through to establish or expand operations intointernational markets and introduces business involvement inforeign markets, combining theoretical, historical and currentperspectives on international business and world trade. This includes exploring the issue ofsocial responsibility, defining a company's mission statement, theuse of internal analysis, external analysis and levels of strategy.The course also examines issues involved with strategyimplementation. This includes structural, cultural and leadershipimplications.
